Why are Google reviews crucial to a local business and why they are more important than SEO.

The majority of business owners believe SEO is the driving force behind search engine page ranking and Goole maps ranking. Whilst SEO significantly helps, businesses that receive and respond to regular Google reviews will rank higher in both Google search engine results and Google maps listings. If you are a local business serving local customers and surrounding areas, Google reviews will help you outrank you competitors that are just using SEO.

How can regular Google reviews possible beat SEO? "I hear you ask".

Over 84% of search engine questions are typed into Google. There are a lot of fraudulent and untrustworthy businesses floating around in search engine results and any one of them can use SEO to rank higher, SEO does not verify you as a trustworthy business, Google does not want unverified businesses receiving new business enquires if there's a chance customers will start leaving negative comments and reviews. Google at the end of the day is a business, and they want happy customers, just like the rest of us.

Businesses that receive regular 4 or 5 star Google reviews and regally respond to their customers feedback, will out rank any local business that is not doing the same, regardless of how much they are spending on SEO. These businesses are the ones that are pushed to the top of search engine page results and local map rankings.

SEO is vitally important to any business and we would always advise using it but its only a part of the process. If you want to start outranking your local competition, you need to get your Google review system in order. Our Capture system is completely automated, once a new customer has been added to the system, they are taken through an easy automated process of leaving your business a review. Being fully automated, you never have to worry about asking for another review, having to post it to your Google business profile or even having to reply, thanking your customer for their review, its all done for you.

Most websites are forgotten about once they have been published. Hosting and maintenance are two very different things and the vast majority of websites that are hosted are not maintained. A typical example of this was a website renewal we have just completed. Our customers website is 3 years old and when we first checked it the main contact form wasn't working and when you opened up the mobile version, most of the sentences overlapped onto the next line down which looked awful. Whoever build the website had no interest in maintaining the website or had any idea about SEO or optimisation as the website was just floating around in cyberspace. This is what happens when a provider just offers hosting, most of them do not check up on websites or properly maintain them to make sure they are running smoothly and efferently and any issues that do pop up can be quickly rectified.

Google and other search engines take several factors into account when ranking content, and as such SEO has many facets. The core three types of SEO are on-page, off-page, and technical SEO:

  • On-page SEO: Optimizing the quality and structure of the content on a page. Content quality, keywords, and HTML tags are the key players for on-page SEO.

  •

  • Off-page SEO: Getting other sites, and other pages on your site to link to the page you are trying to optimize. Backlinks, internal linking, and reputation are your off-page MVPs.

  •

The above three types of SEO are used for websites and blogs, but they also apply to three subtypes of SEO:
